Singapore Trip: An Overview

06:00 31/08/2013 Sheez! It’s been almost a month that we haven’t posted any entry on this blog. Maafkan! (Sorry!) We know it’s very unacceptable to our readers  (if there’s any, LOL). There are so many things happened on that course of three weeks of blogbernation. One of that was our 28 hours rendezvous in Merlion City. Yes,  a quickie spontaneous trip that made us  hate-love the city state nation,  Singapore.

We bid ciao to our abode at 6AM breaking our monotonous sluggish weekend. It was still pitch black when our bus left KL Sentral going to LCCT. Nothing much unusual happened from boarding and in between that 40 mins fly time from KL to Singapore. All went well and Changi never failed to impress us , just like any other visitors in this city state nation.

After getting a 30 Days Stamp and unexpected “Salamat” from a friendly SG IO. We emptied our bladder   then sped off to catch a Sky Train that will link us to Terminal 2, the hub that connects to the city.

We knew beforehand that Singapore had this Tourist Pass which favors it’s visitors to save some bucks when travelling by MRT/LRT/Bus. Since we only stayed overnight we buy 1 Day Pass which later we regret of not buying a 2 day pass. So we have this mighty saver passes and ready to explore Singapore.

Where in SG did we go?

We purposely visit Maxwell Food Centre at Maxwell Road to try Singapore’s best Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice.

We brave the scorching heat of sun and meander the narrow alleys of Singapore’s Chinatown in search of eye catchy trinkets.

We passed along the historical Boat Quay, and witnessed a beautiful sunset over looking Singapore River.

Of course, a visit to Singapore would not be complete if not visiting the Merlion, one of the touristy spot on this tiny nation.

An unexpected stop over outside Esplanade Theater where Singaporean Malays showcasing traditional dances. We felt we’re like in Malaysia again after hearing Bahasa from the kids performing on the stage.

After a long tiring day, all we need was comfortable bed, clean rest room and free wifi. But none of the above was present in our accommodation at Fragrance Hotel Pearl. We understand that WiFi is not free but a dirty bed and untidy piss smelling comfort room was totally unforgivable. A separate post deserves this to vent out our frustrations and hate on this 2 star hotel.

On our second day , we let go the antipathy from our hotel experience and move forward.

We decided to skip the touristy places of SG in favor of this famous bird Sanctuary, Jurong Bird Park

What we love from this quick trip was our limited gastronomic adventure. Limited since we’re on a tight budget and every SGD we spent for  Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, Singapore Laksa and Durian Cendol was all worth it.

Our Singapore trip would not be much memorable if not with these two good souls who spent their precious time with us. Friends, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Till we meet again!

Our Hate-Love rendezvous in Singapore, Orgasmic experience with Singapore Chicken Rice and Laksa, and Kiddie like memoir at Jurong Bird Park. All of these will be unfolded on the succeeding entries.

City Wanderers,

Sky and Summer
