Domestic Guesthouse Budget Hotel, Manila Philippines

14:20 14/12/2013 Right after Air Asia Zest lured us with an irresistible cheapo airfare. We already anticipated sleeping over in the airport, burning the time before our next earliest flight. Same as what we did in Bangkok. But after weighing all the factors such as airport amenities, baggage, and sleeping convenience. We totally withdraw that idea and decided to look for a temporary abode nearby the airport.

Cheap, decent, and near to the airport was our main criteria when looking for accommodation. Domestic Guesthouse Budget Hotel showed on top of the searches we made. And after reading some helpful reviews in Agoda and Tripadvisor. We give in and book for an overnight stay at Domestic Guesthouse Budget Hotel through Agoda.

Location

Address:
Salem Complex Domestic Road, Pasay 1301, Philippines ‎

This budget hotel is conveniently situated just across the old Manila Domestic Airport (NAIA Terminal 4). It’s location suits best for those who have early flights in Terminal 4 and wish not to sleep on the cold airport floor. This is one of the reason why picked this hotel, since Air Asia Zest flights will be flying from the Domestic Airport.

Domestic Guesthouse Budget Hotel is located within Salem Complex which comprised numbers of restaurants such as Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Shakeys and some restobars. There are also ATM’s (Metrobank, BDO) on the opposite block. We could say the area was relatively safe since it’s located inside a complex where guards are moving around to ensure safety all the time.

With a 50KG baggage in tow, a courteous guard opened the door for us. Then a  friendly receptionist  welcomed us with a smile.  After showing our Agoda voucher, and filling up some forms, check-in was a breeze.

The room boy staff lead us to a newly constructed building where our room was assigned. Which the facade looks more of a motel. Good thing our room is just located near the reception at the ground floor. So in case we have immediate concerns, it could be promptly addressed (Example: Our AC remote was defective at first, but happily replace it with working one)

Our Room

We took the Standard Room with Double Bed and shared bath room, and paid 1500 Pesos for an overnight stay. The room is kinda spacious, which we lay our 110 lbs luggage and could still accommodate at  least 10 persons. The bed wasn’t that soft nor that hard, but enough to send us off to dreamland.

All rooms had these basics.

– Double Size Bed
– Clean towels
– Set of toiletries (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Soap, Shampoo, Rolled Tissue)
– Individually Controlled Split Type Air Conditioning
– Flat Screen TV with Cable Channels and Remote Control

The walls had 2 or 3 electric sockets which we find it surprising since most of the hotels or guesthouse would normally  have  single. The sockets  are universal which you don’t need that travel adapter if you’re using UK standard 3 PIN plugs.

The bathroom on the ground floor was not that well maintained during our stay. There was an instance where a bunch of mosquitoes was roaming around the comfort room space which really annoyed us. But anyway, our most concern is a hot/cold shower then it should be enough for us.

Though this budget hotel had airport transfer facility but we opted not to get one since our terminal is just across the complex not unless we’re flying to NAIA T1, T2 or T3 maybe perhaps. The receptionist was kind to hail us a cab since it was heavily raining as well the moment we check out from the hotel.

Overall this budget hotel still get our thumbs up and  recommend them if you’re planning for an overnight layover in Manila. If afraid to be late  for your next early flight, this one is your best bet.

By the way, I haven’t mentioned that Domestic Guesthouse Budget Hotel houses those pretty Flight Attendants (Air Asia and CEB). Nice Chilling spot to look at them sans worrying to be tag as perv would be in Uno resto bar, just a few doors beside of the main reception area. Happy Viewing! 🙂
