Travel Snaps: Hua Lamphong Railway Station, Bangkok Thailand

Travels Snaps: Features our best photos of iconic places that we visit during our previous travel. It’s a recollection of unforgettable snaps and story behind it.

Hua Lamphong Railway Station or commonly known as Bangkok Railway Station that serves as the main railway station in Bangkok Thailand. If asking directions from locals, better ask for “Krungthep Station” and they will be glad to point you to Hua Lamphong. By the way Krungthep is Thai language name of Bangkok.

Looking at the facade of this building, one would notice it’s not from a Thai architecture. It is not, the building was patterned of that from Italian Neo-Renaissance designed by two Italians Mario Tamagno and Annibale Rigotti.

Hua Lamphong Railway Station will be turning a century old by 2016 and will still continue to serve 130 trains or more in  the future.

To capture it’s entirety, it’s best to bring a tripod and snap hundred meters away  and must avoid taking photos at the road.

  9. Awesome architectural designs indeed for this station. More can say that it;s truly the Point.

  12. I think I have been to that rain station when I was in BKK, just can't remember. I like how efficient the transport system is in BKK.

I think the best part of every travel or trip is having a chance to meet new people in different places 🙂 And I'm sure you also think of the same thing especially may na-meet kayong new friends 🙂

  18. Can't agree more, Krabi is the place to be, less touristy than Phuket and Koh Phangan.

  19. Yeah we do, we almost make sure to have new friends after a trip. Because it's fond to recall that memories for who those people you have shared with.

    Hello! very nice post.
My friends and I will be in SG-KL this May. We'll be staying in Everly Putrajaya Hotel. How do we get there from KL Sentral? I do know that we should take the KLIA Transit from KL Sentral to Putrajaya. Afterwards, I don't know if we should just take a taxi or transfer to another train?
We are 5pax with big luggages. Thanks!!! 🙂

  22. You're welcome Nico, Feel free to ask me if you need more information about KL.

  23. You're very welcome Lou. 🙂

  24. If you guys coming from KLIAirport, it's better to take Taxi from there to your hotel. It should be less than 100RM (prepaid taxi) If you take the bus from SG to KL and opt to take KLIA transit from KL Sentral to Putrajaya. Take A Prepaid Taxi at Putrajaya Sentral. It should only cost you around 10-15RM going to your hotel. There is an Avanza Type taxi so your big baggage concern will be addressed.

  25. Hi Sky Summer! We will be in KL by Oct (7 pax)and would somehow like to go to Lego Land, but heard that its 5 hrs trip. Do you have any opinion or suggestion about this? . . . . Do you also do tours as sideline? 🙂 Thank you!

  27. As far as I know there is a bus from BTS-TBS (in KL) that goes directly to Legoland Johor Bahru. Yes it is a 5 hours trip from KL, so better stay there for overnight as travelling back and forth to KL will consume lots of your time. Apologies I don't do tours, I let you know if any case I know someone who can do tours in Legoland.

  28. Thank you very much!

Hello Sky Summer! This is such a helpful site! My friends and i will be visiting KL in September. We'll be spending 4 days in this place, and we intend to visit Legoland and Hello Kitty Town. We also just realized that we wanted to visit SG even for a day or overnight. How do you think/suggest should we do saa ming itinerary? Thank you!

  30. If you plan 3 Days in Malaysia and 1Day or Overnight In SG that is doable. What is your time of arrival? So I can suggest better.

Hey there. Thanks for the quick reply. We arrive at around 6pm Thurs. Our flight back to MNL is on a Sunday at 8:30pm pa. We're thinking of heading to SG upon arrival on Thurs para gabi ang byahe and morning mag start to tour around SG. Do you think that is doable? Thanks much!

  33. Yes, you can take the ERL then Bandar Tasik Selatan if you go by bus and KL Sentral if you opted by train to SG. Friday day tour in SG. Spend a night in JB which is cheaper compare to SG. Then tour Legoland and Hello Kittyland on Sat, then travel to KL late afternoon or evening. Then you may take KL hop on hop off so you can tour whole city before you take flight on sunday evening.

Is it more ok if, coming from SG, we head to where Legoland and Hello Kitty are? Are there any transportation going to legoland coming from the drop off point of the buses coming from SG? Also, budget-wise and time-wise, which is better, train or bus to SG? Thanks much for all the info! 🙂

  35. Hi sky.. ask ko lang baka me alam ka prang hostel na pede magstay for 30days. I want to stay kc sa kl mga 28days.. thanks

Hi. Thanks for this. Ill be there nextweek in Bangsar South. Am wondering if taking uber is better if am going to ikea? Or do you suggest other routes? How much would be fare like?

    Thanks sky

  37. This is a very extensive travel guide! Great! and might I add some recommendations for a place to stay in Chinatown. If its comfortable, spacious, yet affordable room you're looking for, try a look at http://www.the5elementshotel.com.my as they have quite a few on-going promotions on

  38. Hi! Do we need some invitation letter or proof na you booked a room sa hotel pagdating sa immigration? Or the passport alone would be enough 🙂

  39. If you asking in Msian Immigration – Not exactly needed, but return ticket is a must have. But for PHl Immig they might look for booking confirmation if you exit as tourist. I would suggest to get one this will ease your worry for both immigration and same time loooking for a stay here. have a safe trip

  40. Encik Sky saya nak tanya, kalau sa bawa P15K dah cukup ke untuk 3 hari stay kat KL?

Thank you po.
