Temporary Abode : Amata Resort, Phuket Thailand

09:45 28/06/2014 A resort hotel with pretty pool, near to Patong Beach and Bangla Road. These are the criteria upon searching for accommodation in Phuket. But we’re facing a double dilemma, “budget and time”. We shun last minute travel and hotel bookings as surely it is expensive. Our funds just recently depleted after getting hitched. No way we’ll surrender the call of Poseidon. Our feet are itching to soak in the sand and whiff that salty breeze. We ain’t give up to obtain that damn cheapo temporary abode. Amazingly Agoda throws some pixie dust like a fairy godmother granting someone’s wish.  Yay!

We shortlisted about 3 hotels following our criteria but only Amata Resort had the best offer deal among the rest. We got Deluxe Room ( comes with Free Breakfast) for only RM 93.84 all in. Just one-third of the price to the hotel we compared.

Just looking at the quaint view of the pool and the facade of the hotel, we’re sold. Not mention it’s pleasant review both from Agoda and Trip Advisor.

Location

189/29 Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee,
Phuket, Thailand

Amata Resort is a 3-star resort hotel located near to main Patong area. It is walking distance to both Patong Beach and Bangla Road. There are plenty of shops (souvenirs), massage parlors, money changers, restaurants lined up just as you walk to the main road.

Just as we walk towards the hotel, a young guy wearing a blithe smile took over our luggage which we happily oblige. We always appreciate hotels with extra accommodating staffs. Before we even reach the reception a refreshing welcome drink was already serve. Now, that is hospitality.

We took time and enjoyed our refreshment while watching some nice art decors above the reception counter. One could tell easily this hotel is bit age but still keep it’s charm in tact. We love sitting on the wooden chairs and mesmerizing it’s antiquated theme.

Check In

Check In    Time: 12:00 PM (Phuket Time GMT+7)
Check Out Time: 12:00 PM (Phuket Time GMT+7 )

We arrived too early and was taking chances if they can accommodate for an early check in. Apparently, the staff seems to know how to please honeymooners. They give us the best room they could get. A corner room on the highest floor, which means double terrace. Just wow!

Deluxe Room

Our lovely room is well lit as provided by two big windows adjacent to each other. The room space is adequate for couples lune de miel

The Queen size bed is tucked with a superb clean stench free white linen sheets. The bed is medium cushioned, enough to make our sleep comfortable.  The “chang” designed pillows and lampshade vases give that Siam touch.

Room Amenities

An outdated TV mounted on a multi-function drawer that houses a mini ref. Bottled waters, water heater and sachets of Coffee are provided if we need a caffeine fix.

Since our room is on the farthest corner we are so lucky to get a view of modern Patong and verdant hills of Phuket.

The panoramic view of lush hills is a great contrast of the concrete edifice dotted the plains of Phuket. We spend more than an hour on these size of the terrace gazing the horizon and admiring the grey cotton clouds.

A nice size wardrobe with plentiful hangers for use are available in our room. A mini personal locker intended for safekeeping of valuables is also provided.

Nice clean  rolled towels on different sizes are orderly arrange on the cabinet for easy usage.

The comfort room are well kept and organized. The earth colors dominates the wash room which complemented the antique visage of this hotel. Basic toiletries such as Shampoo, body wash and conditioner are present.

A regular size tub showed up after we thought of a regular shower area. The water heater are functional and had relaxing bath here with floating rose petals  and aroma candles.

Can you guess what is the photo above? It’s the window of opportunity. Yes, if you open it you can let someone view  while  taking a shower. A nice helpful feature for discerning couples.

Hotel Amenities

The pool was the main reason why we got hooked up on this hotel. It’s simply stunning and flowing water is salty like the sea. We took a splash in this gorgeous pool for eternity right after a quick swim at Patong beach. We enjoyed so much its tranquil atmosphere. There is also a rooftop pool for those who preferred privacy.

Aside from this handsome pool, the hotel has other services such as laundry service, luggage storage, pool side bar and restaurants.

We enjoyed our sumptuous American style buffet breakfast at the lobby of Amata Resort. They served heavenly breakfast from 6:30 till 10:30 AM.

The food selection was great. We love the French toast, crispy chewy bacon and the scrambled egg which was cooked and served on the spot.

Our stay in Amata Resort Phuket is one of the memorable (include travel blunders) and most relaxing stay we ever had. The Deluxe honeymooners room, friendly accommodating staffs, great location and superb pool was enough to give our big thumbs up on this hotel.

  1. Thanks Aleah! Hope your still in SA when we visit Rio next year.

  2. What a beautiful place for a honeymoon. I'm drooling at the breakfast. Here in SA, the breakfast at hostels (if it's free in the first place) is usually just bread. Congratulations and best wishes, by the way!
