Review: Z Hostel Makati, Philippines

Traveling around Southeast Asia becomes a trend destination for global backpackers. The million of visitors drawn to this part of Asia is increasing each year. This phenomenon was the catalyst for  more budget carrier connectivity along the region and huge demand for the hospitality business. The Philippines had well benefited of this momentum. The influx of tourists grows by heap which translates a high demand for accommodation. But apparently, not all are opulent holidaymakers. Most of them are budget travelers. This is where Z Hostel came about a year ago. They are the biggest and luxurious hostel in the country.

I got an opportunity to stay on this abode during my short stint in Manila. This is by far the best hostel accommodation in the capital. Let me tell you why.

Heading to the hostel lobby, a kind positive vibe will greet you. You will get that nice feeling, a familiarity. I must say they got the hippest reception and waiting area that I ever stayed on. It is artistically designed for travelers alike. The big map of Philippines and Greater Manila, events board were fixed on the wall for easy reference. If you got some pole dancing skills, feel free to display.

I was accommodated by their friendly staff and ensure my booking was confirmed. I did not wait for too long and got my space before the allowed check in time. No more traditional keys in here, they will handed a  funky plastic access card to your room.

Z Hostel has 128 beds which provides a safe and fun place to stay with comfortable accommodation.

Mixed Dorm

8 Pax Mixed dorm 30 SQM
6 Pax Mixed dorm 30 SQM
4 Pax Mixed dorm 30 SQM

This is the room which I stayed for 4 Days and 3 Nights and surely had a good amount of Zzzzzz.  The bunk beds are customized with strong support ladder for upper berth. The beds are spotless clean white and super comfortable. Each has it’s own reading lamp, electric socket and towel rack. The room has it’s own comfort and shower amenities and including sink, AC, work station and personal lockers. One of the best feature of their lockers aside from safeguarding your belongings is charging space compartment. This is where you can securely charge your gadgets and lock it at one shot.

All Female Room

The room which is catered for those ladies who can’t share the dorm with guys. The beds are just the same as with the Mixed dorm. But they had a nice Vanity mirror, and Extra Space for their lockers.

Private Rooms

If you don’t want to share a space with strangers then this private room is the best option. They are all located on the higher floor which give that easy access to their rooftop deck. It has queen size bed with two soft pillows, AC, side tables and own comfort room. This room is best suited for couples and privy travelers.

Hostel Facilities

Internet Kiosk ( Free to use), Can Borrow books to read and board games to play.

Z Cafe

They served classic Filipino meals here, great coffee and alcoholic drinks. Guests are allowed to bring their own food provided they clean as they go.

 Rooftop Deck

This is where people can unwind with their favorite drinks, join in the events and party or just look at the beautiful skyline of Ortigas, Makati and Taguig.

I enjoyed the gig of their Trance party with famous DJ on the metro. On the next day with their Reggae night which played non stop contemporary reggae set.

Z Innovation

Z had proud them selves as the first hostel in Philippines to use RFID technology using as cashless transaction within the premise. The tags can be loaded with minimum amount of 300 pesos. It is used to pay for meals/ coffee at Z cafe or drinks at their rooftop deck.

During night time, they will have dedicated a counter at the rooftop for buying credits  for the tag or at the reception for 24 hours.

Awesome Location
It is situated at the hip and multicultural street of Don Pedro at Brgy Poblacion Makati. It is a good jump off point to explore Metro Manila.
