One Chef, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

12:50 31/08/2015 Instead of the usual out of the country trip every Merdeka celebration. We skip this year, opted to rest our itchy feet and join the commemoration of Malaysia’s Independence Day. Of course a celebration wouldn’t be complete without a food on the table. So we scouted for a traditional Malaysian restaurant that serves authentic Malay dishes. But instead we landed on this cozy restaurant at the ground floor of Berjaya Time Square Mall.

Every time we passed by at One Chef , it’s been always packed. Got so lucky this time as only few people had dine in. Probably because it’s Merdeka. We manage to reserve a seat, browse the menu and take our orders.

The lovely swing seats are always taken and usually occupied by couple and teenagers. Who will not right? It looks romantic and elegant.

Sky choose the Citrus Chicken Steak set. The rice bowl is consists of white rice, seasoned egg and tofu, with steam veggies. The zest of lemon blends well with crispy chicken steak which results a piquant sensation.

Golden sunrise spare ribs set

Summer gaze the big photo on the wall and pointed Golden sunrise spare ribs. This is one of their specialty  dish here in One Chef. When the food was served on our table, it doesn’t resemble on the photo but it captures our heart. The meat is tender and moisten by a thick sweet salty sauce. The serving is quite generous too.

Second Visit

On our second visit, Summer had the signature Minced Pork Rice set. The grounded pork meat is seasoned with soy sauce and taste sweet which complemented really well.

While Sky enjoyed devouring his Crispy chicken coated with egg yolk. The yolk is shredded to tiny pieces like a floss which turns adds a nice flavor of this typical fried dish. The texture is same as like eating a cotton  candy but instead salty. Really love this simple dish.

We also tried their fried dumplings which is bit ok and nothing special. While for the dessert, we got Mango Sago with Pomelo. After mixing the bowl and tried a spoonful we can’t taste the hint of pomelo. If it’s in there it might be overwhelm by the mango. It’s not that sweet which we totally like.

After the second visit on this restaurant, we thought we had covered them all. But, there are still a lot on their menu which looks promising and worth to try out. Surely we’ll back again, next time with friends in tow.
